Practicalities

We aim to contact you within 24 hours of your call or email and to offer you an appointment at the time of you convenience.

What to expect when you begin counselling

The first appointment, sometimes called an assessment session, is an opportunity to discuss issues that could affect the relationship between you and the counsellor, as well as your personal reasons for seeking counselling.

The goal of any talking treatment is to increase a person’s self-awareness, and to help them gain valuable skills and independence.

What we offer?

Cherry Hill Counselling PracticeWe offer weekly counselling sessions of 50 minutes duration. This may be may be a short or open-ended arrangement. The first meeting will be an assessment session, during which the counsellor will talk with you about what is expected in terms of attendance, confidentiality, timings of sessions and payment. At the end of this initial session a written contract will be drawn up between you and your therapist and you will be given an information sheet.

Confidentiality & Safety

Counselling is confidential. We will not pass on any information concerning you or the issues discussed to anyone outside of the counselling relationship. The only exception is if we have strong reason to believe that a person, especially a child, is at risk of serious harm. If this were the case we would hope to discuss the situation with you before deciding to take any further action.

BACP Ethical Framework

We abide by British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and their Professional Conduct Procedure.

As BACP therapists we are in supervision, which is a form of consultative support. We must therefore discuss our work with at least one other person. Our supervisors are also bound by rules of confidentiality so in practice there will not be a breach of trust.

How much will it cost?
